8 Hacks to sell more clothes on United Wardrobe

Hacks to sell more clothes on United Wardrobe

United Wardrobe, a secondhand fashion marketplace where you can earn some extra money by selling your clothes online. But, sometimes it can be a bit hard to get the exposure that you want. But don’t panic! With these 8 UW-hacks, you’ll increase your sales and sell your clothes in no time!

Don’t be afraid to pick up that iron and remove all the wrinkles on your clothes. It immediately makes your item a lot more attractive to buy. If you don’t have an iron, I’ve got a little trick that gives you kind of the same result. Go to the bathroom and put on the wrinkled shirt. Make your hands a little bit wet, and wipe out the wrinkles with your hands, starting at the top to the bottom. What also works is to use a water spray to make your shirt a little bit damp. Again wipe out the wrinkles with your hands, let your shirt dry and enjoy your wrinkled free shirt!

There’s a reason why they say; a picture is worth a thousand words. If you sell online, the photo of the product is, of course, the most important part. So make sure you stand out among the crowd. Make good-quality photos that are bright (preferably made in daylight) and inspiring! Read here tips about How to make good outstanding photos of your clothes to sell more on United Wardrobe.

Also, take photos of your item from different angles and upload them all! Products with 4 photos or more sell twice as fast than products with less than four photos…

If you add a product on United Wardrobe you have to fill in a couple of details about the product. Whether it is for men or for women, you have to choose a category (shirt or pants) and after that, you have a section that is called ‘Brand’. Well… you could, of course, keep it simple and only type in the store where you got the item from.

Orrr… you could climb in your pen and write a short description of the item, like; ‘Cool statement shirt from Loavies with red printed letters, NEW, never worn”. Point out some details of the item and write down for what kind of occasion you would wear it.

The same applies to the ‘tags’. Write down a couple of keywords that describe your item and make it easier for your buyers to find you. Sometimes I also write down in the tag section how fast I could send the product, for example; ‘order before 5 pm = delivering tomorrow’.

Just like on Instagram, if you want to get more followers, in this case; potential buyers, you have to be more active on the platform. Like, follow and comment on other users items. Let them know that you are active on United Wardrobe! But don’t overdo it. It’s rude to advertise on other users accounts, so don’t do that.

It’s needless to say, but be nice. I’ve been on the platform for a while now and sometimes you stumble upon a chat where the girls are just bitching to each other. If a user writes something that you don’t like, just ignore it or ask the UW support to remove that comment. It’s a BIG turn off if you see an item that you like but in the comment section, the seller is not nice at all to her/his customers.

Also, be fair with your price. Don’t make the price too high if it’s not worth the item. BUT, don’t make the price too low also! The thing with United Wardrobe users is that they want to be fooled. If an item is new but the price is too low, in my experience, they don’t ‘trust’ it and you won’t sell that item. Yeah, you read it right, you won’t sell if it’s too cheap!

UW claims that you sell 5 times faster if you share your ‘closet’ on your social media accounts like Facebook and Instagram. Well, I don’t know… I’m pretty sure that my Facebook friends aren’t the ones that will buy from my UW-closet. BUT… for sure it gives your closet some social media exposure, aannnd… that doesn’t hurt! 😉 Make sure your shared link is visible for everyone though.

What also can help to get more exposure of your UW-closet is to add a new product but instead of adding actual photos of an item, you add a self-made ‘Ad’ (see picture below for example). There are a lot of ways of doing this, but the most simple and easiest one is to write some discount down and use a lot of emoticons. Add this product in a popular category like ‘Shirt’ or ‘Jeans’ (depends on the season) en give it a low price. This image will appear on the main page of United Wardrobe, when people read it they get curious and will check out your page.

Well, this only works if you already sold something but when you do, ask your buyer to write a review. Good reviews convince your potential buyer that you’re trustworthy and to buy from you.

  4. Hello this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or
if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding expertise so I wanted to get
guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously
